Susan Sofia-McIntire papers
Collection Scope and Content Note
The papers document the career of soft toy designer Susan Sofia-McIntire. The collection has been arranged in two series. Series I consists of sewing patterns, notes, sketches, fabric swatches, and design specifications. Series II contains digital scans of sewing patterns, including some of the patterns in Series I and others.
The materials were recieved with pattern numbers assigned chronologically by the donor. Box 1 folder 1 contains reference sheets for the pattern numbers, including dates of first versions and revisions. Physical materials and digital scans of the patterns use the same pattern number.

Biographical Note
Susan Sofia-McIntire is a soft toy developer who has worked with major companies including Hasbro, Mattel, and others to create products for the toy and entertainment business. She holds design and engineering patents addressing health and wellness, including the Fun’N Fruity Waterfilled Teether which changed the industry standard.
Sofia-McIntire began sewing with her mother and grandmother at the age of nine and continued into high school with her sewing teacher and mentor, Lucinda Crosby. She attended Massachusetts College of Art where she completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Arts. She began her career in the toy and entertainment industry with Hasbro's Playskool Division. Susan now runs her own business, Sofia Development, focusing on the design and engineering of soft toys. She is particularly proud of her accomplishments with The Green Kids Club brand, the design and patent of the Fun'N Fruity Waterfilled Teether, and her recognition in the industry for exceptional service and innovation.
