Overview
Historical Note
College Bowl was a student quiz show in which teams representing colleges compete to answer trivia questions for scholarship prizes. The show originated as a USO activity created by Canadian Don Reid for World War II soldiers, and was later developed into a radio show. Classmates' enthusiastic support of their school's team created an experience similar to listening to a football game. The show first aired on the NBC Radio Network from 1953 to 1955 and continued on television broadcast networks and non-televised on-campus competitions across America and internationally until 2008.
NBC announced a revival of the show in 2020, which aired as Capital One College Bowl from June 22, 2021 to October 28, 2022. Former American football quarterback Peyton Manning was host and producer of the revival and his brother, Cooper Manning, served as his sidekick. Teams of four players from 12 schools competed over 10 episodes for $1 million in scholarship funds.
In the final of Season 2, University of Georgia defeated Pennsylvania State University with a score of 910-855.
