Historical Note

The National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts (NAME) was founded March 19, 1972 with Barbara Mott of Fullerton, California as president and her mother, Allegra Mott, as honorary founder. The idea for a national organization came about in 1971 when a group of enthusiasts met at the United Federation of Doll Clubs, Inc. national convention in Los Angeles. The group gathered at midnight to share their purchases from the convention, and agreed to meet again at each future convention.

NAME was founded with membership from 4 regional chapters accross the United States and as of 2024 has grown to 14 regions including an international region. Membership is open to anyone who collects or builds miniatures of any category. The Midwest region included a society of 10 members who styled themselves as "The Lilliputians."
