Scope and Content Note

This subseries includes illustrated proofs, newspaper proverbs, Raggedy Ann and Andy sketches, copies of patents, and other published materials created or owned by members of the Gruelle family. Of note are photographs and transparencies of Justin Gruelle’s famous mural “Early Birds” (also called the “History of Aviation” mural), which was displayed at the Smithsonian Institution for several decades.
