Scope and Content Note
This subseries contains scrapbooks assembled by Margaret Woodbury Strong or her relatives, as well as guestbooks, bookplates, information on bookplates, woodcuts, reference clippings, memorabilia albums, and other ephemera. Additional system of arrangement within this subseries is as follows: 1. Scrapbooks 2. Guestbooks 3. Bookplates and woodcuts 4. Other ephemera When possible, original titles of albums or guestbooks are indicated in quotation marks in the folder title. (The J. Pierpont Morgan Library received Mrs. Strong’s massive bookplate collection upon her death in 1969; the remaining bookplates in this subseries were part of her family collection.) Boxes 43-47 contain Mrs. Strong’s personal subject and name reference files, which she maintained in small drawers in filing cabinets. These subject and name files are typically notes on, or clippings attached to, index cards; they are maintained in original alphabetical order by subject or name.
