TV Game Manual File: TVG #4 file
Scope and Content Note
This subseries contains information pertaining to the first home videogame systems and Ralph Baer’s personal involvement. (“TV Games” was Baer’s original name for the videogame system.) The originals of five of the eight Sanders Associated-created “TV Games” have been donated to the Smithsonian Institute, and various replicas have been built by Baer. Each “manual file” within this subseries details how working replicas of Baer’s “TV Games” consoles can be repaired. The “Magnavox” folder holds Baer’s narrative on the development of the Magnavox Odyssey game system, also called the “Brown Box.” Additional information on this topic and time period can be found in Baer’s book Videogames: In the Beginning, located in the Brian Sutton-Smith Library and Archives of Play’s library stacks.
